The future is here. The remarkable photographic features of the iPhone you’re holding in your hand now rivals a professional camera in its ability to create images and share stories. It’s a tool that is always accessible, lightweight, and easy to use once you learn its varied features. Each of our six group sessions are an exciting blend of exploring both the technical possibilities within the iPhone and the creative elements inherent to all compelling images. Jennifer shares easy to understand, step-by-step techniques for using the camera's many features including focus and exposure controls, lens and format decisions, night photography, and how to maximize the potential of Live Photos. Fun homework assignments and in-class image reviews reinforce the lessons and encourage new habits leading to more striking and creative photos.

Participate in the rich cultural ceremonies on display during Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)—a special festival traditionally observed in Mexico that encompasses Halloween, Día de los Niños, and All Souls Day. We will immerse in all aspects of the celebration spanning from the elaborate preparations into the rich festivities. We respectfully witness remembrances and joyful commemoration as families and friends gather to honor the return of souls of the departed. As photographers chronicling these sacred events, we seek always to connect, moving slowly and honoring the traditions of the region. In addition to spending full days taking advantage of photographic opportunities, we also engage in critique sessions, during which Jennifer and Michael provides valuable feedback and instruction.

Join world travelers Jennifer Spelman and Derek Baron on a winding journey into the heart of Morocco and through a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors, enticing aromas, and evocative sounds. We venture deep into the markets and side streets of ancient cities, straight across the mesmerizing dunes of the Sahara Desert, over towering mountain ranges, and into isolated villages and valleys home to a traditional way of life that few visitors have the chance to experience.
